Favorite childhood books ...

Hey there guys, so recently my brother has signed up for this reading competition with our local library and I've been helping him make a start on his reading. It got me thinking of the childhood books I loved when I was around 7 till now. My brother has started to read Roald Dahl - James and the giant peach, and I remember starting this book but I never actually finished it so it's quite good for me to share this experience with my brother as we will both find out how it ends together. Roald Dahl was a big influence on my childhood and I was mesmerized by his writing and ways to describe the image and characters in his head, my favorites were Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which is still one of my all time favorite books and films, and George's Marvellous Medicine.

Another Author who influenced my childhood and the books I read today is Jacqueline Wilson. My favorite books of hers are The bed and breakfast star which was the very first book i read from front to back on my own and took me around a year, I remember this because I was in year 4 (grade if your in America) and there was always this competition of how many pages you could read and you would get prizes for each stage and there were always to bookworms who won every stage and I wanted to give it a try, so I made the first step of reading The bed and breakfast star which changed the way I perceived books in a completely different way. The characters and story-line just intrigued me to where I wanted to read more and more and I eventually finished it, sadly I was and still am a very slow reader which means it takes me a long time to finish a book, I'm working on that. Another favorite book of mine by Jacqueline Wilson is The Diamond Girls. I had started reading it a long time ago and then had either a) got bored or b) forgot about it, and so I picked it up again when I sorted out my books and completely fell in love with it, if I remember correctly I may have shed a tear or two but I can't be certain. It was a long time ago.

Sadly though I could never get into reading the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, and have only read the first one and 3/4 of the second one. It's a working progress, but I absolutely adore and I mean ADORE the films, as I am obsessed with film and the way films are created and brought to life.

I'm going to go now because I'm sure your sick of me rambling on about books so thanks for reading byyeeeee x
